Founding of the Company Founded in 1948 in the Bavarian town of Rehau, the company found many opportunities to replace traditional materials with more effective, polymer-based materials. Initial products included shoe welting, garden hose and automotive components.
In 1962 REHAU opened a UK Sales Office and warehouse in Slough, Berkshire. This followed with the opening of 2 more sales offices in Manchester and Birmingham, 1969 and 1972 respectively.
With REHAU UK's continuing expansion, this lead to the opening of 2 production facilities, Almlwch in 1975 and Blaenau FFestiniog in 1979. This expansion lead to the relocation of the UK Head Office to Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire in 1995.
In 2000, company founder Helmut Wagner transferred control of the company to his sons. Jobst Wagner became President of the Board of Directors and Dr. Veit Wagner became Vice President.
Development At first, REHAU successfully established itself in Germany and the surrounding countries. It soon expanded throughout Europe, and then to North America and Asia/Australia. Today, REHAU is represented worldwide in more than 50 countries.
Future By focusing on medium- and long-term goals rather than emphasising short-term profits, REHAU will remain an independent and reliable business partner. With this emphasis on stable growth, the company targets industries and regions that promise long-term potential.
