REHAU Polytec 50 S
REHAU Polytec 50 S curtain walling system combines the economics of polymer materials with the advantages of conventional transom/mullion construction, with the same profile acting as both transom and mullion, thereby helping to eliminate wastage.
REHAU Polytec 50 S is available in white and a vast range of RAL colours.
REHAU Polytec 50 S Curtain Walling System Thermal Performance
Uf-value up to 0.88 W/m2K to minimise loss through the building shell and to avoid thermal bridging for sustainable homes.
Tried and Tested
Tested in accordance with BSEN13830:2003
Air Leakage 750 Pa
Weather Performance 1950Pa
Wind Resistance 3000Pa
Mechanics
REHAU uPVC is classified as high impact resistant when tested in accordance with BS EN12608. It maintains its excellent impact resistance between -40 degrees and +40 degrees.
Durability
REHAU uPVC's special formulation for external use gives excellent resistance to weathering and ageing. Many installations on the continents have been in use for over 35 years without deterioration.
Fire
REHAU uPVC is difficult to ignite and will self-extinguish when the source of heat is removed.
Chemical
REHAU uPVC is resitant to atmospheric pollution and a range of acids and alkalis. The steel profiles, including the relevant fixings, are galvanised in accordance to DIN 55928. REHAU Polytec 50 S is being installed in luxury housing developments, schools, leisure facilities and commercial offices – wherever there is a requirement for an attractive façade coupled with both high levels of thermal insulation and weather performance.
REHAU Polytec 50 S has been tested in accordance to the European product standard for curtain walling EN13830 confirming its exceptional performance.
REHAU Polytec 50 S comprises a new glass support which speeds up the fabrication process and a PE foam isolator to further enhance its thermal performance – it has successfully outperformed EN12152 and EN12153 with Air Permeability of less than 1.5m³/m²/h at a test pressure of 750 Pa.
In addition, it provides a water tightness of up to 1950 Pa for exposed locations as tested according to EN12154 and EN12155 thanks to its mullion drained system and fully pressure equalised and ventilated construction. This is proving particularly useful in exposed locations such as in harbour and coastal areas where a growing number of interesting conversions are taking place.
Another important reason for the increasing specification of the REHAU Polytec 50 S composite curtain walling system is the strength of the box steel sections used as reinforcement compared with the aluminium alternative. The elasticity modulus of steel is three times higher than aluminium (E steel = 210,000 N/mm², E aluminium = 70,000 N/mm²) which means that larger spans can be achieved without the need for either costly secondary support structures or reduced profile depth to enlarge the usable floor space.
REHAU can advise on the correct specification of box steel sections for individual projects and on both weather and thermal performance requirements.
