REHAU CABLE MANAGEMENT SUPPLIED TOLARGEST HOSPITAL REDEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME IN UK

REHAU CABLE MANAGEMENT SUPPLIED TOLARGEST HOSPITAL REDEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME IN UK
REHAU is supplying its COMPACT data 140 x 50mm and PROFILA data 180 x 65mm cable management systems to Skanska for the largest PFI/PPP hospital redevelopment programme in the UK.

More than 20,000 metres of the PVC power and data trunking systems are being installed as part of the £1bn construction project to redevelop and rebuild St Barts and The London Hospitals. At St Barts Hospital, new centres of excellence are being developed for Cancer and Cardiac care, while The London Hospital is being largely rebuilt to house the capital’s largest emergency and trauma centre. The London Air Ambulance will also operate from the roof of this new building.

Skanska has requested that REHAU provide a mix of white and brown PROFILA data and COMPACT data trunking for installation at dado height in the hospital reception areas and under nurse base stations to match the overall design scheme.

REHAU has extruded the brown trunking specifically for the project at its dedicated production facility in North Wales in a RAL colour specified by the Skanska Infrastructure Development team. REHAU has also designed special trunking bends in the same RAL colour to facilitate staff wheelchair access beneath reception and nurse station desks

All of the trunking was approved for installation by Skanska Connect who are managing the IT installation for the project. Both COMPACT data and PROFILA data are approved for use with a variety of Cat 6, 6a or even Cat 7 wiring modules and incorporate innovative features such as adjustable depth socket boxes and flexible internal and external corners.

In line with Skanska’s environmental policy and following its recent achievement of the UK Sustainable Procurement Award for The St Barts and The London Hospital project, REHAU is supplying the trunking to a Construction Consolidation Centre from where it is being delivered to the sites on an ‘as required’ basis to minimise waste and prevent stock build up.

REHAU was selected for this project on the basis of the quality and ease of installation of the trunking and its performance on previous successful contracts for Skanska at BSF school projects in Slough and Midlothian. It is also currently supplying other Skanska hospital redevelopment projects at Walsall and Carstairs Hospitals.
