REHAU POLYMER BUILDING SOLUTIONS IN NEW SPECIAL NEEDS SCHOOL

REHAU has supplied a package of its polymer building solutions for the new build Rowhill School in Longfield, Kent, built by main contractors R Durtnell & Sons.
The school, run by Kent County Council, caters for the special educational needs of 100 children aged between 7 and 16 with a range of learning and behavioural difficulties. It features REHAU underfloor heating, PVC-U windows and cable management as part of an overall specification aimed at maximising both the aesthetics and the energy efficiency of the building.
The REHAU underfloor heating system has been installed throughout the building, including in the sports hall where it has been fitted under a sprung floor using REHAU’s RAUFIX method. It was installed by EH Building Services, who are a REHAU Authorised Partner.
The PVC-U windows in REHAU’s S706 system were fabricated and installed throughout by local Kent based fabricator Prima Systems. They are coloured both internally and externally in pale grey finish to complement the cladding used in different sections of the building.
The REHAU Profila Data cable management system has been installed beneath the windows at dado height in many of the classrooms by specialist company Linfield Electrical.
The emphasis on the project was on energy efficiency with natural ventilation used alongside the heating system to help achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.
REHAU was specified because its products met the exacting performance standards required and because it could offer a consistent level of support for the design and installation teams from one central point via its regional sales office in Slough.
Consultants on the project were PCS Consultancy of Aylesford.
