WORLD PREMIERE FOR NEW IN-RUN TRACK SYSTEM SKI-LINE

Innovation from REHAU and Riedel and the ski-jumping world cup in Trondheim

WORLD PREMIERE FOR NEW IN-RUN TRACK SYSTEM SKI-LINE
The tension is rising in the Norwegian city of Trondheim. Both athletes and organisers are excitedly looking forward to the world cup competitions in ski-jumping and Nordic Combined from 7th to 9th December. For the first time in two years, the world’s elite jumpers will be going over the Bakken of the Granåsen jump again. With the installation of SKI-LINE, the world-first in the area of in-run tracks, Trondheim has opted in favour of safety for when they hold the world cup.

Peter Riedel, expert for snow and icing technology, had the idea for the new design of combined summer and cooled winter track in one module. Together with the plastics specialist REHAU, the inventor of the system developed the system further into the present Ski-Line – in close coordination with the international ski association FIS, the German ski association and the athletes.

Equal opportunities for jumpers
“With the in-run track we provide constant and safe conditions for all athletes, even in unfavourable weather conditions” said Wolfgang Krügel, marketing manager of industrial developments at REHAU. Energy-efficient and cost-effective cooling brings cold under the two winter track channels and ensures a consistent track even at temperatures well below freezing. The side guide made of particularly low-friction high-tech plastic provides more safety for the jumpers. The summer track is also innovative; this is made of abrasion-resistant plastic specifically tailored to the coatings on jumping skis. The resistance and sliding properties are virtually identically to a layer of snow in winter.

Final spurt in Garmisch-Partenkirchen
The organisers of the New Year’s ski-jumping event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen are also eagerly observing this baptism of fire for the world first SKI-LINE. The planners and builders of what is at present the most modern jump are also opting in favour of REHAU and Peter Riedel's innovation for the in-run track. The last few metres of the innovative track system are being installed on the take-off table of the avant-garde construction as we speak. For safe competitions and fair conditions on the track – from the first to the last jumper.
