REHAU CREATES ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD TO MARK RECORD BREAKING SCHOOL INSTALLATION

The Queen Elizabeth’s School in Wimborne Minster Dorset, which officially opened last month, features the largest installation anywhere in the world of REHAU’s award winning AWADUKT Thermo ground – air heat exchanger system providing a renewable source of controlled cooling and ventilation.
To mark its significance, REHAU has created an award at the school which will be presented every year to a pupil demonstrating excellence in Technology and the Environment.
The first recipient was Jack Bedford, the school’s current Head Boy and environmental champion, who was presented with a suitably sustainable trophy by Graham Hughes, REHAU’s Business Unit Director, at the school’s recent presentation evening.
Graham Hughes said: “We’re incredibly proud of our involvement with Queen Elizabeth’s School, which, as a demonstration project for Sustainable Schools, showcases the very best in sustainable design and renewable energy technologies
“We’ve watched the building take shape since our record breaking three and a half thousand metre polypropylene pipework grid was installed underneath the building way back in 2009 and now that the school is officially open, we’re delighted to be able to return to encourage and reward the school’s ongoing commitment to the environment.”
REHAU’s AWADUKT Thermo system is installed 1.5m below ground underneath three of the school’s new buildings and uses the natural temperature of the ground at that depth to pre-heat or pre-cool ventilation air before it is delivered into the school.
