REHAU POLYTEC 50S CREATES GLAZED WALKWAY IN CENTRE FOR OLDER PEOPLE

REHAU POLYTEC 50S CREATES GLAZED WALKWAY IN CENTRE FOR OLDER PEOPLE
A new £5m centre for older people in Norwich features more than 100m2 of curtain walling in the REHAU Polytec 50S composite system fabricated and installed by specialist local company Aspen Windows.

The curtain walling has been used to create a glazed two storey walkway and communal area between the sheltered housing flats and respite care zones in the Grays Fair Court building in Costessey, Norwich.

It allows light to flood into the building and offers residents and visitors views of the gardens and outside areas.

REHAU Polytec 50S was chosen for the installation by main contractors Higgins Construction because it offered much better thermal performance than the aluminium alternative and could be fabricated and installed quickly and easily.

For the elderly residents and users of the building, it also features an internal surface which is warmer to the touch and offers higher comfort levels than aluminium.

REHAU Polytec 50S replicates the style and sightlines of traditional aluminium curtain walling with external aluminium facings fixed over galvanized box steel sections. On the interior, it features REHAU PVC profiles which combine to deliver a market leading Uf-Value of up to 0.88 W/m2K.

Aspen fabricated the curtain walling incorporating opening windows in the REHAU S706 70mm system and external doors.

The Greys Fair Court facility is operated jointly by Norfolk County Council, Age Concern Norfolk and Saffron Housing Trust.
